This is a monster guide for Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Death March difficulty for fighting the mini-boss King of Wolves as Ciri. My guess that most people won’t have trouble with boss but I cover this boss in pursuit of covering every enemy in the game. In my guide I go through all of the mini-boss’s attack patterns, how to avoid getting hit and helpful strategies to beat him.
I will go over the strategies in this article for those that prefer to read stuff than using visual aids.
Strategies for beating King of Wolves
I will outline some of the strategies how to beat the King of Wolves. If you want to see it in action, check out video in this article.
- The main strategy to beat this boss, let him attack, teleport, attack and teleport to safety before he attacks
- If you have trouble with him, there is a pillar in the cave that you can hide behind and safely regenerate your health
- You really want to make the oil before fighting him, the game autosaves right before the bossfight. So if you have not made the oil you can do so. Otherwise you fight a stronger version of the King of Wolves
King of Wolves attacks
The King of Wolves has four different attacks, I will outline how they work.
When you get very close to him, he will go down all four and bite you. If you dodge right when you see him go down all four you will avoid getting hit.
If you gained some distance to King of Wolves, he will do a lunge attack to close the gap. To avoid getting hit, dodge when his feet leave ground or if you fast enough you will be able to dodge while he is airborne.
When you are close to him, he will try to swipe you. If you dodges right when he lifts his arm you can dodge safely.
Double Swipe Attack
The double swipe attack is a powerful attack, but luckily it is easy attack to avoid, dodge when the King of Wolves raises both his arms.
